Valve is taking action against cheaters in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive by implementing a unique monitoring system called Overwatch. The most diligent, proficient, and honest players can join a special “patrol” to oversee server order. Overwatch aims to uphold game integrity and deter unwanted behaviour, providing a fairer gaming environment by shielding honest players from rule-breakers.

When encountering a suspicious player, users can summon a designated “warden” using a specific button. The warden will observe the game for eight rounds, determining if the suspect is cheating and deserves punishment. If confirmed, the cheater will be banned, with the duration based on the offence’s severity.

Currently, in beta testing, the Overwatch system offers a FAQ from Valve for additional questions. Potential observers must pass a test before being granted server oversight. They will review a previously investigated case and provide their opinion; if it aligns with the expert’s assessment, the player becomes a warden.
